Subject: sfc wiring & dip switches (addendum) Date: Thu, 14 Nov 2002 02:40:22 -0600 From: Andi Baritchi Reply-To: TxMKIV@yahoogroups.com [oops.. resending this as i forgot about the blue wire (regular blue, not dark blue) for the speed sensor... heh. sorry. ] (I was writing this to help somebody install their SFC.... so I figured I'd send it to the lists too in case anybody needed help with this.. Mohd-- feel free to save this as a tech article). Andi. ----------- SFC wiring & installation ------------- Start off by looking over this: http://www.boostaholic.com/tmp/sfc_install.gif and this: http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/terminals_of_ecm/index.html then just look at the terminals of the ECU diagram while following these directions: 1) tape up the purple, dark blue, and yellow wires from the SFC. You won't be using them. 2) now we have the following wires to connect: red, green, white, black, orange, blue, and brown. Let's go through these one by one... (first, remember to look at the pic of the ECU from the correct side... if you it backwards it will be screwed up... E9 is the big part of the connector w/ the bolt in the middle of it... E10 is the little connector on the right... all the #s and pictures are when you're looking at the back of the connector, i.e. like it is now plugged into the ECU. ) let's get started: - Black wire. That's ground. Splice it into E9-69, which is the ECU ground "E1". - White wire. That's the oxygen sensor reading. Splice it into E9-48, which is the first oxygen sensor "OX1". - Green wire. That's the rev signal. Splice it into E9-58, which is the igniter "IGF." (Note: if this doesn't work, undo it and splice it into E9-57, which is igniter "IGT1"). One of the two will work, I'm not sure which... but I think it's IGF/E9-58. - Blue wire. That's the speed sensor signal. Splice it into E9-2, which is the no. 1 vehicle speed sensor "SP1." ** note, be sure to use the REGULAR blue wire here, not the dark blue wire. The dark blue wire remains unused on the Supra. - Red wire. That's the power. Splice it into E10-31, which is the ignition sourced power supply for the ECU "B+". So far we haven't cut any wires.... now we have two wires left -- brown and orange. Brown is the SFC's input from teh mass air sensor (or VPC), and orange is the SFC's output to the ECU... now you have to cut a wire....... Find the wire going to E10-66 mass air flow sensor "VG". Cut it in two somewhere convenient. Connect the SFC brown wire to the "car" side of the cut #66 wire, and connect the SFC orange wire to the ECU side of the cut #66 wire. Then set the dip-switches on the VPC as follows: SFC-R Dip switches: Left Bank 1 down 2-8 up Right Bank 1 up 2 down 3 up 4 down Regards, Andi '98T Boostaholic.com OneLapSupra.com
